To attend graduate school and work toward getting my Master of Accountancy (MACC).
After graduation I plan on moving back to San Antonio unless an excellent opportunity presents itself to me here in the Valley.
My education has taught me so much more than what can be found in a textbook. Persistence is a key aspect that I acquired while in school. No matter how easy and appealing quitting may be you have to push forward and continue to work toward your goals. I learned not to be afraid to ask for help. This university has many available resources to help students. My education has also opened my eyes to many exciting ideas and issues that one cannot acquire without receiving an education.
I have enjoyed my experience here at UTPA. I love the campus, the appearance and size. Not being in a 300 student class makes me feel like an individual and not a statistic. I have enjoyed being involved in campus activities, like serving as a mentor, a student ambassador and a member of the women’s basketball team. I have also found a comforting social/exercise facility in the new Wellness and Recreational Center here on campus.
If you want to be successful in life the best advice I can give is for you to listen to your heart. If you want to be something in life do whatever it takes to make that happen. Do not let others tell you something can’t be done. Never give up on your dreams or yourself.
The best advice for college bound students is to have a positive attitude. Don’t count on things always going smoothly because there will be bumps in the road, but if you can get past it and keep moving forward things will get smoother again. Remember to ask for help, there are learning assistant centers and tutors available for almost any course. Also get involved; get to know your fellow students by getting involved in societies and organizations. The goal of universities is create a well rounded student. So do not spend all your time cooped up at home or in your dorm. Learn and practice time management skills and find a happy medium to your fun and schoolwork. Best of Luck!
