What are your plans after graduation?

Following graduation I plan on working as a journalist either in print or broadcast. I also hope to further my education by obtaining a master’s degree.

Do you plan to stay in the Valley?

I do plan to leave the Valley to gain experience in bigger cities. However, the Valley is home, and I do believe I will return one day to give back to the community by sharing my experiences and everything I have learned.

What has your education done for you?

My education has opened many doors, each leading to a different opportunity and a broader horizon.

How do you feel about your UTPA experience?

In the two semesters that I have attended UTPA I have had an excellent experience. I have had remarkable professors who not only have a passion for their teaching but also for their students. I have also had the opportunity of becoming involved on campus and working with great people who make work fun. As I continue my education at UTPA I know that I will continue to experience everything that UTPA has to offer.

What is your best tip for success?

Success does not come easy; it takes hard work, determination and dedication. Success means not being afraid or embarrassed to ask for help; this is how you learn. Do not be afraid to make mistakes, instead learn from them. Believe in your dreams and never give up. Most importantly believe in yourself!

What advice do you have for college-bound students?

Start preparing in high school, do not procrastinate. Come to college open minded, with goals you aim to reach and be prepared for challenges that will make you a stronger person. Be ready to learn and utilize everything the university has to offer. Last but not least get involved and meet new people. All of this will lead to a college experience you will enjoy and not soon forget.
