Richard H. Garcia
Mayor, City of Edinburg
Federal Criminal Law Attorney Richard H. Garcia returns for his second term
as Mayor of the City of Edinburg, after serving from 2003-2006. A native
of Edinburg, Garcia Graduated from Edinburg High School in 1964 and
continued his education at the University of Texas-Pan American and received
a Juris Doctorate at Texas Southern University in Houston. He served as
Edinburg Municipal Judge from 1975-1978 and was a County Court of Law Judge
for 16 years. Garcia is the only person to have served as chair of the
Texas Border Coalition twice back in 2004 and 2005 and is proud to have been
appointed to serve on the Texas Adult Probation Commission. He is currently
the President of the Edinburg Economic Development Corporation. He has two
daughters, Gina Garcia and Mrs. Katherine Perez, as well as two grandsons,
Richard Xavier Perez and William Alexander Perez.
